Basketball Performance Summit 2026 – Looking Back!

Whenever you launch a new event format, there are moments when you question whether you're on the right path. That was certainly true for us as we prepared the Basketball Performance Summit in Vechta from June 11–13.

In the end, the number of participants was lower than we had originally hoped for. And yes, there were moments during the preparation when that made us wonder whether all the effort would be worth it. At the same time, we strongly believed in the concept and, above all, in the exceptional group of speakers we had brought together. With experts such as Dirk Bauermann, Klaus Perwas (Frankfurt Skyliners), Alan Ibrahimagic (DBB), Bastian Quentmeier (Eintracht Frankfurt), Rafal Juc (Denver Nuggets) and many others, we knew that an incredible amount of knowledge and experience would be shared over those three days.

Looking back, the smaller group turned out to be one of the event’s greatest strengths. The atmosphere was personal, open, and highly interactive. Discussions emerged that simply would not have been possible in a larger setting. Participants felt comfortable asking questions, sharing challenges from their own professional environments, and engaging directly with the speakers. Presentations turned into conversations, and attendees became contributors.

For me, this is exactly what the Summit is about: bringing people together, creating space for honest exchange, and learning from one another. The feedback we received confirmed that participants left not only with new ideas, but also with valuable connections and fresh perspectives.

Behind the Summit were many months of work, ideas, discussions, and, at times, uncertainty. Together with Marcus Lindner and Domenik Theodorou, both Performance Coaches at RASTA Vechta, we worked on the concept, refined the content, and continuously challenged ourselves to make the event as valuable as possible. There were moments when we questioned whether we were heading in the right direction. Looking back, we can confidently say: we were. Not because of the number of participants, but because of the quality of the conversations, the exchange of ideas, and the experiences that everyone involved was able to take away from those three days.

A huge thank you to all speakers, participants, partners, and supporters who helped make this first edition possible. We are already looking forward to taking the Basketball Performance Summit to the next level in 2027 and once again making Vechta a place for networking, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning — with an even broader, cross-sport and cross-disciplinary approach.
